Varsity’s United States Postal Service (USPS) shipping applications are designed to support all USPS shipping requirements for US origin shipments. USPS specific features and functionality include domestic, international, Express Mail, delivery confirmation, registered mail, restricted delivery, return receipt, signature confirmation, and special handling.

USPS U.S. Carrier Compliance Kit (CCK)

The USPS U.S. CCK contains all rate, ZIP Code™, and zone data for shipments from a given ZIP Code to any location in the United States. The CCK immediately applies all USPS shipping rules and restrictions to ensure full shipping compliance and the timely delivery of packages.

The Varsity USPS U.S. CCK calculates the volume and postage payable for all USPS shipments by service type. This information is then printed on postage statements, manifests, and labels. Labels include the required indicia used to denote meter and package identification numbers as well as barcodes and trace numbers for delivery confirmation.

Varsity ensures that USPS shippers meet all manifest mailing requirements. Varsity produces USPS-approved manifests and postage statements. USPS certification ensures postage charges are accurately calculated. And the CCK supports electronic manifesting for Express Mail packages.

UPS

Varsity’s UPS shipping applications are designed to support all UPS shipping requirements. UPS specific features and functionality include domestic and international compliance with rate and routing data, parcel track and trace, and specialized functions such as HAZMAT (hazardous materials shipping) and Export Documentation.

UPS United States Domestic Carrier Compliance Kit (CCK)

The UPS U.S. Domestic CCK enables full shipment capabilities for all domestic UPS shipments. The kit contains all rate, ZIP Code™, and zone data for shipments from a given United States ZIP Code to any location in the U.S. served by UPS. UPS shipping rules and restrictions are immediately applied to ensure full shipping compliance and timely delivery of packages. Specialized smart labels (with a MaxiCode) are generated, as well as a pickup summary barcode label, high value reports, and paper manifests. Electronic manifests can be generated for direct upload to UPS via Host Access. Additional features include electronic COD and call tags, email shipment notification, automatic consolidation, and hundredweight rating. All additional charges supported by UPS, such as residential and fuel surcharges, are maintained and applied to shipping costs whenever required.

Purolator®

Varsity’s Purolator shipping applications are designed to support all Purolator domestic shipping requirements for intra-Canada shipments.

Purolator Canada Domestic Compliance Kit (CCK)
The Purolator Canada Domestic CCK supports Purolator’s domestic intra-Canada shipment services with compliant rating, routing, and labeling data for all Canadian locations served by Purolator.

The kit contains all rate, Postal Code, and zone data for shipments from a given Postal Code to any location in Canada served by Purolator. Purolator shipping rules and restrictions are immediately applied to ensure full shipping compliance and timely delivery of packages. Specialized labels are generated. Paper manifests can be printed and electronic manifests can be generated for upload to Purolator.

The kit supports both Air and Ground services for Overnight and Extended Delivery options using both customer provided packaging as well as Purolator’s PuroPaks and PuroLetters. Special service support includes 9:00 A.M., 10:30 A.M., and Saturday Deliveries. Beyond Points service allows for shipping to remote locations, Express Cheque, and Third Party Billing. Relevant taxes and fuel surcharges are automatically applied as part of the rating mechanism.

FedEx®

FedEx U.S. Carrier Compliance Kit (CCK)

Varsity’s FedEx shipping application is designed to transparently support FedEx shipping requirements for U.S. origin shipments via FedEx Express and FedEx Ground. Varsity’s latest FedEx U.S. CCK is designed to work in conjunction with the FedEx Rate Server (FSMS) to process rating transactions, generate tracking numbers, and transmit shipment data to the FedEx mainframe. A seamless TCP/IP connection provides access to the most up-to-date rate, ZIP Code™, and zone data available through FSMS. FedEx shipping rules and restrictions are automatically applied to ensure compliance and timely delivery. Additional charges are applied as required. Shipment data is captured in an electronic manifest report that is uploaded daily to FedEx via FSMS. Specialized, certified-compliant FedEx shipping labels are generated on a thermal printer and end-of-day FSMS reports can be easily printed. With Varsity’s optional Export Documentation module, it is possible to automatically generate the required export documents based on shipping requirements and compliance rules. Documents available include Canadian Customs Invoice, Certificate of Origin (NAFTA and Standard), Commercial Invoice, and Shipper’s Export Declaration.

Varsity’s FedEx U.S. CCK is fully certified with FedEx for compliant shipping up to version 072x of the FSMS Rate Server. Varsity is proud to be a FedEx Compatible Solutions Program Partner.

DHL Worldwide Express

The DHL CCK enables full shipment capabilities for all DHL small parcel shipments. The kit includes compliant rating, routing, and labeling data for all locations served by DHL. The CCK contains all rate, ZIP Code™, and zone data for shipments within any of the locations served by DHL. DHL shipping rules and restrictions are immediately applied to ensure full shipping compliance and timely delivery of packages. Specialized labels are generated, as well as a pickup summary barcode label, high value reports, and paper manifests. Electronic manifests can be generated for direct upload to the DHL host. Additional features include electronic COD and call tags, delivery confirmation, automatic consolidation, and hundredweight rating. All additional charges supported by DHL are maintained and are applied to shipping costs whenever required. The DHL CCK also supports the mixed service types behind the delivery of residential DHL@home packages. DHL@home labels contain shipping information for DHL’s delivery segment, as well as final mile delivery details for USPS. The kit includes USPS barcodes, tracking numbers, routing codes, and delivery confirmation. DHL shipping rules and restrictions are immediately applied to ensure full shipping compliance and timely delivery of packages. With Varsity’s optional Export Documentation module, it is possible to automatically generate the required export documents based on shipping requirements and compliance rules. Documents available include Canadian Customs Invoice, Certificate of Origin (NAFTA and Standard), Commercial Invoice, and Shipper’s Export Declaration.

Seamless Order Management and Shipping By tightly integrating Xperia Comprehensive with Varsity solutions on the IBM System i, the Xperia Comprehensive interface enables seamless order processing from order entry through delivery. Shipment and order information is shared across the organization enabling:

Varsity pulls required shipment data such as the pick number, quantity, and ship-to address directly from the Xperia Comprehensiv database, processes the shipments, and updates the Xperia Comprehensiv database with shipping details including tracking number, package ID, weight, and freight charges. Provided and maintained by VAI, the VAI Interface seamlessly exchanges shipment and order data between VAI S2K and Varsity ShipSoft. Shipment and order information is shared across the organization enabling:

Adaptable Technology

The VAI Interface uses flexible exit points and an externally described parameter list, or P-List, to map data elements from VAI into ShipSoft and to return the results back to VAI. The primary VAI files used for the interface are VCOHEAD, VCODETL, VINITEM, VARCUST, and VARSVIA. Varsity pulls required shipment data such as the order number, quantity, and ship-to address directly from the VAI database. It then passes back shipping details including the tracking number, weight, and freight charges which can be used to update files in VAI. Designed for flexibility, this data exchange method can be tailored to support virtually any supply chain process out there.

The interface between ShipSoft and EnterpriseOne is written using the EnterpriseOne toolset and RPG. The interface requires a minimal amount of IT resources and, once implemented, runs seamlessly. Adaptable Technology For users of ShipPack, ShipSoft’s pick/pack module, the interface between ShipPack and EnterpriseOne pulls pick slip details and populates those details against the order being packed. Once packing is complete, the interface returns fulfillment information in real-time from ShipPack into EnterpriseOne.
