VARSITY EXPANDS FUNCTIONALITY WITH RELEASE OF SHIPPACK
2.2
Leading iSeries-based shipping software automates order palletization
and end-of-order functions to improve warehouse pick/pack processes
San Francisco, CA. July 23, 2003. Varsity
Logistics, Inc., the leader of integrated shipping solutions for the
IBM iSeries, today announced the release of ShipPack 2.2. This latest
release of Varsity's popular pick/pack module streamlines warehouse operations
and increases packing accuracy.
Responding to customer requests for increased packing automation, ShipPack
2.2 includes automatic palletization of orders as they are packed, automatic
end-of-order once all items are packed and the validation of package weight
and dimensions to ensure correct shipment charges.
Long-time Varsity customer, GL Services is pleased with the enhanced functionality
provided in ShipPack 2.2. Peter Bundy, Director of Operations comments,
"Since installing ShipPack in 2001 we have reduced our shipping error
rate by more than 33 percent. The new features in ShipPack 2.2 enable
us to achieve even greater efficiency and accuracy."
ShipPack extends the functionality of ShipSoft, Varsity's small package shipping solution for the IBM iSeries. ShipPack provides line-item visibility into the contents of each package including description, size, weight and controls to improve shipment accuracy. ShipPack also mitigates costly routing guide violations and consignee penalties by providing order information on compliant barcodes (UCC 128). In addition, ASNs can be automatically generated in EDI format (856).
"We work closely with our customers to support
their evolving shipping needs", said Tony Phillips, Varsity Director
of Product Marketing. "We are committed to ensuring Varsity users
achieve the highest level of pick/pack efficiency."
